about

In 2008 Newcastle based alternative hip-hop duo Forcefield Kids released two EP’s titled Home and Harmony & Discord on DFNT records. A collaboration between producer/deejay Sleepy and rapper Stain(ed) Art, the EP’s aimed to deliver gothic poetry over lush lofi landscapes and would become the defining work of the two artists and garner significant critical acclaim.

On the ten year anniversary of this project, the two EP’s have been compiled together into an album and made available as a free high quality download exclusively on Bandcamp.

"The Forcefield Kids have created an epic [sound] where futuristic shadowy beats gel flawlessly with lyrical flows which are equally deep and meaningful." - Britishhiphop.co.uk

"These guys are one of the most complex hip hop duos to hit the indie world in some time. Their stamina in such a tormenting league of not so extraordinary gentlemen is well prepared and devoutly charming." - Fensepost.com

"Their style is dark and dingy, beats sounding like they're emanating from a deep well. Stain's flow is sharp throughout. [They] appear to be making a conscious effort to separate themselves from the UK rap scene while at the same time sounding unmistakably British, which is a difficult task that they pull off quite well." - Your Ex-Lover is Dead

"Sleepy, despite his name, is the musical muscle behind the Kids and it’s the combination of his simple but effective style and Stain's acerbic flow that make the Forcefield Kids that bit special." - Rebel Riffs

""...jazzy, bass driven... lo-fi and alternative rock stylings" - possibly. What is definite is that The Forcefield Kids do things their way whilst factoring in a load of musical influences." - Certified Banger
